AA/Oneworld: YYZ-SJU $99 o/w base fares
There are always limited MR options from Canadian cities and pricing (given taxes and fees) is higher than intra-US MRs, but one that appears to be around most dates for ONEWORLD folks is a r/t for about $300 a/i between YYZ and SJU via MIA or JFK. Earns just over 4600 EQMs. Again, not in that 3¢-5¢ per EQM range but respectable nonetheless. And for top tiers, 100% bonus makes RDMs a reasonable ROI. Also seems to be an easy pairing of flights for upgrading.
The base fare is $99 each way. Heading into the US, there's all those US government fees totalling $70+. But the return has fees totalling less than $20.
No minimum stay required. Can be booked as one-ways. Most dates through this year and into next can be found. (I've got three booked, two this year, one next year.) Good for top up status runs and inexpensive hotels can be found for the overnight.

fyi, for YYZ-SJU, I'm only seeing the sub $320 a.i. fare in Sep and first half of Oct ($283 on Fri/Sat dep, $313 on many other days), at least thru Miami for higher mileage.
Around $385 after that (more days too) thru end of Mar at least
Very tempting as I haven't used my status match to ExecPlat yet (and I have 3 Admirals Club passes thru end of year)

Try Hotwire to book an unknown 4 star hotel in the general location of choice for up to half off.
Public transportation in San Juan is good but poor outside the city. Food mostly American chains Mc Donalds, Burger King, Wendys, Churches Fried Chicken. Best coffee in bakeries, Malls, or Kiosks with expresso machines.
Isaac was a tropical storm centered 250 mile to the south tracking west. Rain off and on typical of the area.
Scored $300 Delta bucks for a volunteer bump ATL to SFO Friday night with dinner on Delta during the two hour wait. Not a bad trip.

Bus stop close by for trips to the city. Very nice bakery (Kasalta) nearby for sit down breakfast/lunch. A very popular local restaurant (Molini's) a couple of blocks further for dinner.
YMMV but wander away.

I am interested to try and put together a nice long trip. I am based in ORD and was thinking to do something like ORD-LAX-MIA-SJU and the reverse the next day.
I have been trying to use matrix to put it together with each segment, but it just keeps searching. Anyone have any ideas on anything I should/could use to put this together?
