Agreed that BDL is not the best starting point. The alternative for me is a 2 hour train ride to NYC. Potato/potatoh.

Yes- but we are talking adding easily $100 to the price of ticket. Bus = about 50 RT and train varies about $75+

Ends up being total price of ticket from BDL.

Not sure if it's still available but you could fly PVD out and BOS back for $466 2 days ago...less than $9 to get to PVD from BOS on commuter train
