Also, LH had ~$2,500 r/t F fares to Europe last year around the same time (and/or Xmas/New Years). Came thisclose to booking... I wouldn't be surprised to see it repeated, and LX included.
If I remember correctly, there were also some very good biz fares to Asia ex-US around Xmas last year.

Decent fares on quality airlines from IST to east Asia

E.g., 10/17-21:

QR IST-NRT $2,095 all-in, SQ $2,807
LX IST-PEK $2,227, SU $1,895
BA IST-HKG $2,473, SQ $2,477
SQ IST-KIX $2,790
RJ IST-BKK $2,043, QR $2,110, many others below $2,500
EY IST-MNL $2,373
EK IST-SGN $2,385, SQ $2,481

(I am excluding usual suspects MS, GF, KU, and VV.)

Also, some ridiculous fares on SV, not a quality airline, but maybe worth a SkyTeam run:

SV IST-MNL $1,057
SV IST-CGK $1,213
SV IST-BKK $1,390

These are not that extreme, but the ongoing weakness of the Turkish lira probably helps.

P.S. The UA non-stop IST-EWR can be had for $2,313 R/T on these dates. Pretty good.

Great stuff, thanks. IST is always a good bet when heading to this side of the world. The fare that always gets me, and has been pretty constant and available for at least a year, is EY's fare ex-IST to either SYD or BNE, ~AUD$3000 on F. And they have an incredible F product. Great for Aussies!

But when I try to book it on the LX website, the price jumps and is adjusted to $4116.
AA has matched the First class A fare to LHR and possibly elsewhere. Example:
Nov 22-28 JFK - LHR R/T $1993 AI.

Update:
The fare is $1993, not $1933.

I found it with a multi-day search on kayak.com and clicked through to the AA.com website. It displayed the $1993 fare. I tried entering my personal details and got all the way to the credit card details.

Update:
The fare is $1993, not $1933.

Pretty widely available. *A has matched (UA, LH, LX), but availability is a lot tighter. SFO-LHR can be had for $3k roundtrip in LH or UA First (A).

Ah, that would explain it. Darn shame. Can't even find a way of combining a day during the sale with a return at another time that comes in any less than about triple the sale fare (even if return in Business).
