That is exactly where I got the inspiration for this - as I said, thanks to FT. You had great info on this fare. As for the AA part, I stay as far away from them as possible, I was an AA FF for years but now done with that. Not sure that is amateur

Star Alliance and SkyTeam members are having a bit of a business class sale to Scandinavia for summer travel - for outbound travel from June 15 through September 3. Decent but not great RT fares, $2757 ai LAX-CPH or $2748 ai SFO-CPH, also to OSL and HEL, probably others.

Bookable for August on the AF A380 out of LAX. 2 "free" stopovers permitted with 1 in Paris each direction.

BOS-CPH is about $2300 ai. But I do not see anything in the fare rules that say you get 2 free stopovers. In fact, if I use ITA (multi-city) and force a stopover in AMS the fare doubles!

The Air France fare rules specify free stopovers in Paris but the others (at least, UA, LH, DL and KLM) specify no stopovers.

On EF the KL fare you list has the following:

STOPOVERS: STOPOVERS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT INTERMEDIATE POINTS.

I see. I got the fares rules from ITA. I guess they do not show me the complete rule set.

This is what I am getting pulling fare rules through Expert Flyer:

KLM provides this:

STOPOVERS: STOPOVERS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT INTERMEDIATE POINTS.

UA says:

STOPOVERS : STOPOVERS NOT PERMITTED ON THE FARE COMPONENT.

While AF provides this:

STOPOVERS: 2 FREE STOPOVERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT - 1 IN
EACH DIRECTION IN PAR.

Edited to add: sorry I typed too slowly!

Great find. Thanks. Do you know when this sale will be over, though? How long will these fares last.

I would say that they are really good fares (better than decent in my book) for SFO-Scanadinavia, no question, especially when SFO-Scandinavia on UA with an SWU W fare (and an uncertain upgrade) runs around $2000. Thanks.

I don't know this info, sorry. On the face of the fare it needs to be ticketed by September 3, but with a 90-day advance purchase requirement, and of course I can't imagine the sale stays on all summer.

Note Lufthansa Easter specials from the USA, starting around $2500 (~25 cpm?)
http://www.lufthansa.com/online/port...en&cid=1000390

They also advertise Summer specials, out of Europe, around EUR 2,000 to the US.

As noted, the Lufthansa specials are generally available from Europe. When Lufthansa runs a sale in any European market, it typically tends to be available in several others, too.

And just to point out, too: Swiss and Austrian are also offering various similar deals from a number of European markets. Again, this is usual when a Lufthansa sale is in progress.
