I don't see anything wrong/right with USAIR vs. any other USA carrier. These guys are 95% - 99% similar - with pluses and minuses for each.

United new Business Class / new Continental Business Class / new USAIR Business Class - outstanding business class. Lie flat seats, movies on demand, etc. All very good.

old United/USAIR/Continental Business Class - sad and outdated.

I only fly * alliance, but, I am guessing old biz class is old biz class, regardless of airline.

You are missing the point. The point is that the savy FlyerTalker will best utilize these special holiday J fares by avoiding 6 hour transcon flights in US Air's economy plus section (i.e. what they brand as US F). Rather, the savy FlyerTalker that I mention would fly long-haul to Europe from the west coast. The *alliance savy FlyerTalker would fly in LH not UA because of the upgrade possibilities and 200% bmi mileage accrual. The *alliance savy FlyerTalker might hop down SFO-LAX to rack up more miles.

Ah so that is the debate... as a Chairman, I would be almost 100% upgraded on domestic USAIR vs. west coast LH business class...

Having experienced both, I would say the new USAIR lie flat is far superior to the LH 170 degree lie flat, but, that means 4+ hours in any domestic first.... so I can understand the argument towards LH biz from the west coast.

Instead of that previous fare of $2129, this one has the domestic segment in first, not economy. It's $70 more, but worth it. If you can afford this (time and money wise), and you need the miles, I think this is a great deal. If you look at the other carriers that are doing this from SFO (I know the east coast is cheaper), Delta is $2673, AA is $3100, and UA, CO, BA, and LH are all around $3500.

I don't know how long this fare will last, but I think it's a good deal, especially since you will be flying on the new A330 lie-flats on US air. Blissworld just did a very nice TR on the product. It looks really good to me:

What's nice about this is the following:

1) Have Thanksgiving dinner at home

2) No days off work

3) Business/first all the way

4) Have beer & bratwurst in Munich

5) Visit the BMW welt

6) Back home in time for the workweek!

7) 19,000+ EQMS!

Very tempting! I'm seeing many options MSP-MUC around those dates on DL for less than $1800 in F/I.

How can you get from JFK-LHR on CO and BD metal? Neither fly from JFK

Must be LH (via Germany) or UA (via IAD) metal

And if you are CO elite and take IAH-LAX-HNL-GUM route, all segments are upgradable with B fare.
Globe Trekker traveler Megan McCormick was on the travel channel last night traveling through micronesia. This B fare is running about 1600 in Jan and Feb. I am tempted Does anyone see it cheaper in 2011 and a quicker turn around?
