OS: MHT-PHL-PHX-HNL RT $1585 Miles&More in the US (US;A fare;41100M;~4cpm good deal?)

I've got OS Miles&More Silver status and wanna make it to gold this year - as I'm living in Montreal at the moment, I'm thinking of doing the following milage run starting off in Manchester, NH that would get me 41100 miles closer to my Senator status for $1585 incl. taxes:

MHT-PHL-PHX-HNL-PHX-PHL-MHT with US in First (booking class A)

MHT-PHL 288 miles (min. 500)
+PHL-PHX 2070
+PHX-HNL 2910
= 5480 miles
x2 R/T
= 10960 miles
x3 Booking Class A
= 32880 miles
x1,25 (25% exec. bonus)
=41100 miles

comes down to $0,039 per mile - not bad, right? or is there a mistake in my calculation? any way to improve this itinerary?

anybody got other ideas for first class milage runs with US or UA starting off in the Northeastern USA???

Thereīs a little error in your calculation: The 25% exec. bonus only applies to the base miles.

correct calculation:

10960 miles x 3.25 = 35620 status miles or if you prefer
10960 miles + 21920 miles (200% COS bonus) + 2740 miles (exec. bonus)

Note: Iīm not quite sure about the calculation of the <500miles segment, itīs either 500 x 3.25 = 1625 or 1500 x 1.25 = 1875
(on flights where there is a fixed mileage as intra-European C the exec. bonus also applies to the COS bonus), but doesnīt make a huge difference

Still a good deal and much more convenient than a 10 segment transcon MR!

It is 500 x 3.25 where minimum mileage applies. The multiplier effect only works for intra-Europe (since the August 2004 enhancements).

For those keeping score at home, that comes out to 4.4 cpm, yeah?

For those who are just starting out, this one run yields enough status mileage to gain the first tier of LH elite.

This status will last for all of 2010, 2011 and 2012. (Two years after the year of qualification.)

And... You get HNL for a while to boot!

It's not enough for the first tier, unless you're already a M&M elite and you get the 25% bonus. If you currently have no status, you will fall just short of the 35k level. But overall flying FC to HNL it's a nice way to do a MR :)

It's not that great of a F run out of MHT. You can often get HUAUP fares for $800 which you can route through 4 connections each on UA. I'd go for BD *G

I'm doing this in a couple of months, booked a few months back.

I've got a yield of about 35200 MHT-CLT-HNL-PHX-CLT-MHT if my calculations are correct, using 3.25 times actual mileage since all segments are longer than the minimum mileage.

I would personally not risk using HUP versus this AUP for crediting to M&M.

What is HUP/AUP?

is there any confirmation which of these XUAUP credit 3x miles ? I read in some very old posts that some QUAUP where succesfully credited;

oliver2002 Apr 5, 2010 3:44 am

HUAUP fares book into A and give 325% if credited to M&M^:)

thanks Oliver2002;
the more I have read posts about these kind of discounted Fares on US/UA the more different informations;

are all of these fares that book into A with 325% or are there exeptions ?

Although I haven't booked any of these fares, I've spent some time researching them. One pitfall I'm aware of is when you get a segment on a RJ with no FC, then of course you get Y miles, not the 325% for A. Another thing I've noticed is that in CO's case these fares book into Z, which gets you 225%, so it's preferable to go with US or UA (this was my own observation and I might be mistaken).

I generally search for such fares on FareCompare: http://www.farecompare.com/search/yupfares.html
