What's to do in Ohio?

In Chicago and looking for Hyatt's to get faster free nights. There are a few in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincy.

I have always wanted to go to football hall of fame in canton. I am somewhat interested in Rock and Roll hall of fame.

I did want to go somewhere and see some fall colors and do some hiking and stuff. I was thinking door county wisconsin but no hyatt there. Is there anywhere good in Ohio to see some foliage and hiking/biking.

My impression is that the two places I mentioned going are north Ohio and I think that's flat and boring. I would guess that southern ohio is much more scenic but obviously can't be combined with cleveland/canton.

Looking to leave chicago on thursday night or friday morn and get back sunday night. Any weekend in oct or november works except tgiving.

I don't know what the place is like, but there is a national park near Cleveland.

Here's their website: http://www.nps.gov/cuva/

I can't vouch for how nice it is, but I would like to go there sometime. It's worth looking into at any rate.

Cleveland is a fine town. Plenty to do and you can drive 45 minutes or so from downtown and be in rolling hills and nature.

For the hiking/fall scenery you mentioned, I would recommend the Hocking Hills area:

Here are some additional hiking/bike resources:

Also (this being FlyerTalk): if military aviation/airplanes are of any interest, the US Air Force Museum is located east of Dayton - from the Hyatt Place north of Cincinnati, it would be about 40 miles (IIRC) - lots of exhibits, and except for the IMAX presentations, admission and parking are free of charge: :)

Hocking Hills is about 3 hours from Cleveland.

If I were the OP, I'd head to Cleveland and the Cuyahoga National Forest for some hiking. I'd also take a drive east along the lake.

Why not go to Cedar Point, the roller coaster capital of the world. It's located in Sandusky, between Cleveland and Toledo. It's open weekends through Nov. 2nd.

Our family went this summer and got blown away by the rides.

Cleveland is ringed with municipal parks. http://www.clemetparks.com/recreation/hiking/index.asp If the weather is good, anyone of them has nice trails. I generally hike North Chagrin because that's pretty close to where I lived and I know the trails pretty well. South Chagrin has some lovely areas. These are suburban parks, but still nice. I did almost 6 miles in North Chagrin Friday, from Squire Castle to Buttermilk Falls. You would need to rent a car to get to any of these parks.

You can rent a canoe and float down the Cuyahoga (it won't catch on fire, I promise you). http://www.camphicanoe.com/ It's not great, but it's a way to get outside.

Holden Arboretum is also a nice place to hike. http://www.holdenarb.org/visit/directions.asp

That's sort of off the top of my head.

My folks live in Massillon (CAK area), the Mrs is from Vermillion (between Sandusky and CLE) so I knew a lot about the area.

There is Amish Country about 30 minutes south of CAK. Good food, good shopping, pretty scenery, if you are into that kind of thing. Remember, things will be closed on Sundays for the most part there.

I was just at Hocking Hills in June and it is very very pretty. We went camping with SIL and her family and would definitely go back.

CLE also has lots to do, Cedar Point is good too, as people have noted. If you're looking at CVG, don't forget about Kings Island.

Don't forget about the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, about 10 minutes south of CAK airport.
