Stops on the Blue Line close to bar/restaurant?

Hey all!

Will be spending time in Chicago, staying out near ORD near Cumberland station. We will be getting into the city quite often but I wonder if one of the stops in between is in a neighborhood that would have decent place to grab a burger and a beer in the later evening? We live in a city so are comfortable making our way through unfamiliar neighborhoods.

Thanks!

You have multiple options. The Jefferson Park stop puts you near Gale Street Inn, an old school bar and restaurant. If you're looking for a younger crowd, some of the stops further SE should suffice, including Damen.

Jeff Park also has several 24-hour diners, fwiw. For yuppies and hipsters (like Uptown or Lyn-Lake, sorta), try Damen, Logan Square, Division, Western, and Chicago, in that order.

Just found that the city tourism office has a guide to the Damen area:

If you want to venture into the city - take the Blue line to Jackson, and walk 3-4 blocks down Dearborn to Hackney's on the corner of Polk. Great friendly place with a nice outdoor area, and they make a mean burger.

The Blue Line Bar right at the Damen stop; stiff drinks and decent bar food.

Or better yet, according to some (me included), Poag Mahone's:

The huge 9-ounce burgers have gained a national rep as among the best in the country.
