You said that you "hear" Ruth's Chris is good.

Well, last week, I tried to make a reservation for Naha but they are booked SOLID for the entire restaurant week time period.

My bad. I have been to RC a few times.

I just don't care much for steak, so when I say "hear," I'm referring to the opinions of steak lovers. ;)

Taking my opinion about steak wouldn't make much sense.

Just a reminder, this kicks off tonight.

I'm hoping to make it to Republic over the next week.

Well, I'm 0/1 on the Restaurant Week promo. Went to China Grill tonight, reserved through Open Table, added a note to my reservation "we're reserving for the restaurant week promo", appeared at the restaurant and there was no sign of the promo. We asked the server who seemed confused. He talked to the manager who told him "we're starting that tomorrow". We almost walked, but stayed and had a good meal, but at much more that I had planned to spend tonight.

Adding, Well, I went back to the page, and read all the fine print. Despite the banner headline saying that the week begins 2/22, most of the places dont' start until today or even Monday. Buyer beware, and I'm thinking that this whole thing isn't really a very good deal, if the weekend isn't included. Many of these places have mid-week specials in any case, entire meal deals or half price wine night, that bring down the dinners to the same as the Restaurant week special - or less than in some cases.

Even having found the information, I'm still disappointed that the CG didn't let us know that the promotion we were booking wasn't being offered since I was explicit on the reservation form.

Some friends and I went to Ruth's Chris on Friday, Feb 22 and had a great experience overall. I don't want to hog flyertalk space, so you can see my report at http://atomiclush.blogspot.com/

We are planning on going to another restaurant on Thursday, Feb 28 so we'll see how that goes. Will update when done. Anyone else want to share their Restaurant Week experience?

I noticed something similar at Kiki's on Monday night.

While they had their menu, it wasn't made known by the host and/or waiter.

Didn't really bother me since I had my usual steak pomme frites, but it seems Restaurant Week is more about luring customers in and hoping they don't ask about the value meal. ;) Bait and switch-like.

There were a flurry of messages before the promo, but I've seen only a couple of reports (including my non-report). I'd be curious to hear any reports from people who successfully used the promo. How were you treated and what was the menu? Was it a set menu or were there choices?, etc.

We went to Ruth's Chris on the 22nd and they were handing out the restaurant week menu in all of the menus and the servers were encouraging people to do the restaurant week deal. (It was the only reason we were there, but the people next to us didn't even know about it.)
Service, food choices, food quality all couldn't have been better. We'd never been there before but will definitely be back.

Nick's Fishmarket tonight was a different story. If you were there for restaurant week they made you eat in the bar and grill. Fine, but the music was blaring, the servers were terrible, and the pacing was off. (Shouldn't get appetizer after soup (though one appetizer never even showed up), etc.) Food was fine, but the fish really wasn't outstanding. (Mr. CheapSk8 commented that he'd had the same quality of food at Red Lobster. An exaggeration, but not by much.) Soup was barely room temperature, desert (pie and bread pudding with ice cream on top) were served to our table with only spoons. Table next to us got the same desserts and only got forks.
We even had to ask to be given the restaurant week menu -- despite the fact they left us a voice mail saying we had to confirm the reservation if we wanted to do the restaurant week menu and then, when I called to confirm, they asked twice in the 1 minute conversation whether we wanted the restaurant week deal. Also, just a random pet peeve -- don't hand the bill to Mr. CheapSk8 when I have the credit card out. And once you've taken the credit card from me -- and not Mr. CheapSk8 -- don't return to the table with the credit card, open the bill in front of us to check the name on the card (which is definitely not a name that could possibly be a man's name), and then hand it to Mr. Cheap Sk8.
Needless to say, Nick's is not a restaurant we'll be returning to soon.

Just to update. After sending them an e-mail a few days ago, I have a phone call from the manager last night. He was very apologetic, and we can go back sometime soon for the "chef's tasting menu" at the promo week price. I believe this tasting menu is somewhere in the $70 range, so we'll certainly take advantage of it. I'm feeling better about the experience.
