Two construction projects in the vicinity of Chicago O'Hare will cause delays in traveling to the airport. With this in mind, please plan to arrive at least two hours before your scheduled flight time from O'Hare.

Will we need extra time at the airport to talk with each other about how much longer it took us to drive to the airport?

Guess maybe AA likes posting things that it considers important to travelers.

I-294 to I-190 is really bad right now -- over an hour just to change highways on the weekends. Not sure that surface streets provide any relief.

What time of day are you traveling?

I drove to OHare from Tinley Park last Thursday. I left Tinley at about 2:15, and was at the ORD exit of the 294 by 3:15 or so. It then took me about 30 minutes more to go the last 2 miles from the exit to the rental car drop off.

Also note that those last tolls are not manned, and only accept coins. If you have no coins, then you have no recourse but to drive through without paying. There's a sign on the side of the collection box that says you can pay online, but it doesn't give the web address. Not very visitor-friendly, I must say. (Pretty much in-line with my entire ORD experience).

I picked up my wife at ORD Terminal 5 this past Sunday at 1:00 pm, driving 294N to 190. I was surprised that there was not a single moment of delay the entire way and I got there quite early. It was the weekend, but still....

There should be a phone number to call to pay that toll; it is on all the booths within near-range of my house. It is highly advisable to pay the 80 cents or whatever it is by mail, because they do take a picture of your license plate and will definitely fine you if you don't.

Unfortunately I was driving a rental car, and don't know the plate. And when I called the car company, they weren't able to look it up for me. I'll try again in a few days.
