MSP Gate E1
 

I was at MSP last Monday evening. While there, I notice that gate E1 really didn't have any indication as to which airline was/is using it. Does anyone know what's going on with that gate? Is it vacant? Maybe an extra gate that can be used/rented per usuage?

It may be possible that the construction of terminal changes (food court etc) have caused problems with this gate. It may not have sufficient room any longer to park certain ac ...

Yes I noticed the 'all seating' area there recently (schlepping from the AA gates).

It also may be a NW gate that they are not using as there are no other NW gates on the E concourse and they (the evil NW) are unwilling to give it up for fear another airline will use the gate for competitive flights in their markets!

Yes, it's currently vacant. As I recall, E1 used to be AirTran's gate before they were moved to the Humphrey Terminal across the field a while back.

It does seem like it might be a good fit for a, oh I don't know, JetBlue flight or something? ;)

is right now a 'temporary' seating area for the food court farther down the concourse.

that seating area (by Burger gutt and such) is under major renovation.

looks like the MAC is 'using' the spare gate for its own expansion.

wonder when/if it will revert back to a real GATE???

I was through tonight. E1 has been returned to "gate" status in that the regular seats have returned, but it still looks completely disused, no airline signs, etc.
