Best Lunch Bargain in Ann Arbor

It would be tough to argue against Webers Sunday brunch for $9.25. But that is only on Sundays.

I will put this lunch up against any other lunch in Ann Arbor, especially for the money.

Raja Rani Indian restaurant. $8 all you care to eat, including fresh Nan, seven entrees (half vegetarian), soup , dessert, mango juice and Indian spiced tea. As well as salad and FREE parking.

This place has won awards for best Indian food in Ann Arbor.

Ever time I eat there with someone, they are always amazed when the bill comes.

However, I've found dinner there to be much higher priced for small portions and wouldn't recommend.

Not my favorite, but is Mongolian Barbeque still around $7 or $8 for all-you-can-eat lunch? I prefer Afternoon Delight or Zingermans, although neither one is really a bargain.

Where is the free parking for Raja Rani?

I love Zingerman's, no idea if it is a bargain

I don't think Zingermanns is a bargain, I am amazed when the bill comes and not in a good way

Afternoon Delight is one of my other favorites.

The free parking is in their lot. Raja Rani is a white house on a corner. They turned their yard into a lot. Holds about 10 to 15 cars.

Well, you could either get 2/3 of a sandwich at Zingerman's (their small, not their large), or all you care to eat at Raja Rani. I love the taste of Zingerman's food, but the price takes the fun away for me.

Didn't know that. I haven't been past there in quite a while, and it is even longer since I ate there.

restaurant bargains

I just had lunch at the other Indian restaurant (name is something like Madra Asala...I am murdering it probably but at least you get the idea) down the street from raja rani...It is off the Parking lot structure, almost next to the police station office (and right next to the mediterranean falafel/coffee place).

All you can eat buffet for $8.43, so with tips say $10. Excellent food with great variety. They bring these rollups things on your table which are amazing. I love the lamb and vegetable curry. Tandori chicken was awesome I was told too.

Over in the Ypsi side, another good Indian restaurant with about the same price for lunch buffet is Temptations off Washtenaw Avenue, just east of Golfside. I have been very pleased when I went there but I know of a few who did not like it. Madra Asala is definitely better but you need to pay for parking on the street or at the structure.

In front of Tempations, next to Subway, is China Chef. Lunch is $3.99 plus tax and you get a huge portion with an egg roll. I go there when I am hungry and want to pay less than $5 for lunch. I like the cashew chicken but sometimes I still go for the General Tso chicken, fully loaded with msg and bad cholesterol:-)

We love Great Lakes restaurant for dim sum (on Carpenter) and Seoul Garden for Korean/Japanese...definitely no bargains!

I think putting Zingermans and bargain in the same sentence should be barred by law:-)

Zingerman's isn't a bargain, but it is great food. Angeleo's near the hospital is cheap and has great breakfasts and lunches.

Oh, what about Le Dog? Cheap soup? Lobster Bisque? Yum.

I do love Weber's, but I'll give Raja Rani a try. Thanks for the tip!

You made my mouth water. I need to try LeDog for soup.

The best deal related to Zingerman's is they are still having their Tour de Food promo. Go to 4 of their locations in one day and get a free Tshirt. You need to get your passport, available at any location, stamped at all 4 and the last place will give you the T shirt.

Madras Masala. I've been there a couple of times and wasn't impressed by the food at all.
