ORD Terminal 2 to Concourse C shuttle
 

Hi,
I am flying out of ORD on Monday on UA, and was thinking about using the NW WC in Terminal 2 before my flight. I had a couple questions about the shuttle.

1) Would I be able to check into Terminal 1, walk to 2 and use their security?
2) Is there a schedule for the shuttle?, and generally how long will it take to get from E to C?

Whatever you do, don't tell the driver to hurry up....

If you check in at T1, and then walk to the far left, past the Elite check-in and Elite security line entrance, there is a separate security line that leads directly to the security-side 'bridge' that links T1 and T2. Note, this security is closed when sometimes, but if you are leaving during 'regular hours', it should be open.

I think that the shuttle runs every 10 minutes between the two terminals. Probably 5 minutes or less for the actual ride.

It is security zone 3 in T1. Most often the shortest and fastest security in T1 and the one I have always used. Personally, I like walking, so I would walk from E to C - 10 minutes for me

Ok Perfect, so there is a walkway inside of Security connecting T1 to T2? That makes it even easier than having to deal with the shuttle.

Agree 100%! If you take into the account of waiting, then boarding, then the drive, then the deboarding, then walking up the stairs, it would take about 15 minutes all together and that is not including if there is already a line.

I would walk it all the time! I just hate waiting in lines...

I just experienced that shuttle for the first time and hated it. First they don’t run it every few minutes. I had to wait over 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive. When we finally boarded it was windy and below zero and the driver kept the door open as we waited on the bus for another 10 minutes. I had packed my coat and it was freezing.

I've used the shuttle once. For the life of me, I can't recall why (I rarely connect through ORD since I live here). Anyway, what others have said is accurate. I suppose that since you have to pass E3, you could take a quick look and see what it looks like, but otherwise, give yourself 10-15 minutes and enjoy the exercise. Just don't get carried away following the herd and find yourself on the outside of security.

The new security area and connection area between T1 and T2 is nice. The lines are generally very short unless they have decided to run a large group of seldom-flyers through there. Check in at T1 (if you do OLCI, you can check your bag just outside that security area, btw), go through security, turn left through the bridge and you're on your way to T2. Retrace your steps on your way back, enter concourse B and head for the dinosaur. At the dinosaur, head down the escalator to concourse C.

If you're not checking a bag, do OLCI and you can go straight into T2 security . There used to be a small flock of Easy Chickens in T2 in case you need to reprint a BP, but otherwise, you've saved yourself a few steps, although T2 security can get periodically goofy.

I prefer the walk but I do take the bus on rare occasions. The bus leaves from C9, so if a C gate is involved with a number below or near that, you have a chance that the bus will be faster. If there isn't a line to get on it, it will certainly be faster. Otherwise you walk up to C16, go through the tunnel, then back through a third of the B gates to the T1-T2 connector. If you're starting from C1 it will be more than 10 minutes.

As pointed out by iluv2fly in the thread referenced above, the shuttle between T1 and T2 is United-operated, thus this thread was properly started in the United forum.

(As further proof, there is no mention of the shutle on ohare.com.)

I walk from the NW Club back to Conc. B often. I will use OLCI and Elite Check-in / TSA lines in T2, which are clear normally.
