Wicked Tix?
 

Did a search and didn't find anything on this. SO and I want to see "Wicked" in Chicago, but after a couple of hours on Ticketmaster's web site, can't find any GOOD tickets (orchestra, VIP, or loge). Any suggestions on how to get great seats, or is it too late?

found some reasonable priced tickets (and some not so reasonably priced) at http://www.stubhub.com for Wicked in Chicago. 29% above face value for 16th row center tickets for a near term Friday night was acceptable IMO. Much better than what eBay had to offer in terms of selection and pricing.

Could try chicago.craigslist.com as well. Sometimes people find out they can't go at the last minute and ditch their tickets there.

It's been incredibly well-received.

You could wait until the non-touring "permanent" version opens in a few months. It will star former Saturday Night Live star (and Chicago native) Ana Gasteyer.

Saw "Wicked" the other weekend. Fun but not great. Seems as if majority of crowd was there to root on the former SNL member Ana Gasteyer who plays the wicked witch Elphaba.

I realize that this may be a personal issue of mine but during theatre I despise applauding for someone as soon as they come out on stage, they may be famous/well known but that has no bearing on the quality of their performance in the show one is about to see. Sure enough Ana's voice was not the best and IMO she did not warrant the exuberant applause. The Good Witch was outstanding in her performance.

Clever how it tied into Wiz of Oz, but a couple of the tie ins made no sense at all.

I'm looking for tickets to Wicked at the Ford Theater for Sat. night Nov. 3rd, and I just want to make sure I don't get ripped off.

Lots of tix on the side of the "Dress Circle" level are available and are reasonably priced, but sounds questionable as to how good these seats really are.
Orchestra section are going for ~$200 which is a little painful.

Anybody know Ford Theater well?

Fly to London on a cheap winter time airfare and see the production there.

Have gotten 3rd row Stalls tickets on ticketmaster.co.uk and have another on for aisle first row Dress Circle in January.

BTW 3rd row is kinda too close .. you can see them spit!

Also suggest you read the book first to get a better understanding of it .. tho only about 50% common with the book IMHO.

I've been there about 6 times, but we always sit in the balcony.

How good/bad are the balcony seats? Do you need binoculars?

The folks on stage are pretty small from that distance, but the sound seems to carry well. Binoculars are not a bad isea from the rear balcony; I think the front would be OK.

Greg, I wouldn't go beyond the first few rows of the balcony. Its a big theater. Dress Circle should be fine. Save the balcony for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th times you see it! ;)

From my view of it, I am guessing that the Dress Circle is below the Loge/Balcony (and of course above the Orchestra) with the front of the Dress Circle being somewhat towards the back of the theater compared to the front of the Loge/Balcony. Correct?

You're correct. If you click on the more detailed map, you'll see an outline of the balcony above the Dress Circle. It is not far back, however. I bought tix for my sister in the front row of the dress circle and she said they were amazing.

I've seen Wicked at the Oriental/Ford in Chicago from both the dress circle (side, not even front row) and front row balcony seats, and I have to say that the dress circle seats were much better (and much cheaper....$29 IIRC).

Front row balcony was not bad ($45?) and all the seats are certainly much cheaper than seeing Wicked in NYC. The show is EXACTLY the same except for one small detail (which is actually better in the Chicago production). You could also get better tickets in Chicago with less lead-time than needed in NYC.

Additionally, they run a $25 orchestra ticket lottery in Chicago at 5pm before the evening shows and those tickets seemed relatively easy to get (held during the week in the Oriental lobby; on weekends held at the Borders bookstore on the corner of State and Randolph).
