Well, I just went to Lou Malnati's to give their deep dish another try based on all the people who keep insisting that it's the best there is. And again, I still can't see what the big fuss is about. Every time I've had it, I always think there some kind of flavor profile missing. I'll take Giordano's and Edwardo's over Lou's any day.

Ahh, Chicago pizza.
That is one of the things that I really miss... As a 40 year resident of the windy city, I would also put Due as number one. Giordanno's used to better before franchising. It's still ok, but nothing special (for Chicago, that is :-: ). |

I prefer deep dish anyday as I really don't consider stuffed as "Chicago Style". Now I spent yesterday at ORD (wonder why) and the 5 of us went around trying the different pizza places and come to the conclusion that all that is at the airport is frozen pizza. Uno's near G is gross and Reggio's near H is gross. I talked to several TSA guys about the pizza and food there and a couple sit down to dinner with me and offered to order a pizza from Lou's and have it delivered, they say they do it all the time and would even cross it over the security area for me. Mighty nice of them if you ask me. One said he was a connaisseur of pizza and he had eaten in all the terminals and there was not a good pizza to be had in the entire airport. So disappointed. ATL has better food as does BHM.

I hope the purpose of the trip wasn't solely for pizza. Try Burrito Beach - that is about as good as it's gonna get at O'Hare.

That one (DUE) is excellent, and not nearly as crowded as Uno.

I just had Due and Malnati's and I have to say Lou Malnati's BLEW Due away! Malnati's was the best pizza I had ever had! Due was good, don't get my wrong, but Malnati was so much better!

So, you're obviously more a fan of stuffed pizza than deep dish.

That's partially true. But I just went to the Original Uno's and that was actually really good. I can't recall what the name of it was, but it had portabello mushrooms. Was probably on par with my favorite stuffed pizzas and definitely waaaay better than Lou Malnati's.

It seems to me that the moral of the story for the OP -- if the OP is even following this thread any more -- that after some point you're never going to get the favorites narrowed down to less than about half a dozen. And what's the point, I wonder, since none of these places is giving frequent flyer miles for the plugs they get on sites like this.
So I say rejoice! that there are a half dozen or so pizza options in Chicago so good that the natives can never agree on which is the best -- -- and try them all while you have a chance. |

A note for anyone staying at a hotel at O'Hare: Ginos East (on Higgins) will deliver to your room. The delivery charge is only $2.00. I just enjoyed a small supreme (or at least part of it) and a small side salad. It sure beats pedestrian room service food (and probably costs the same or less).
Note: The Lou Malnati website shows that the delivery area for their Park Ridge location touches the area where the Westin, Hyatt etc are located, but I called and they (politely) said that the map wa wrong - no dice. |

Should be staying at the Conrad. whats the closest fab pizza joint as we wont get in till 8 or 9 pm |
