First timer - fun, action packed retaurants?

Sweet Willie - I'm coming to the city on business with a work colleague who isn't the most exciting man in the world :o - where do you recommend we should go?! Somewhere with a bit of entertainment and atmosphere, not too expensive and lots of fun!

Any suggestions more than welcome!!

Thanks...

I don't claim to have the knowledge that Sweet Willie does, but so you're not totally shut out here, a few suggestions:

Rush Street (aka "the viagra triangle"), while somewhat touristy, has a lot of atmosphere and is definitely a scene. I'd choose Gibson's if you want a lively place that's one of Chicago's better steakhouses.

Also, some of the sushi places like Japonais and Sushi Samba could be pretty fun.

You might also try metromix.com and citysearch.com for some ideas.

I would also think about trying National 27 (cuban?) on Huron St, Adobo on Wells (Mexican) or a bit more expensive, but fun and loud, social atmosphere is Avec on Randolph. You sit cafeteria style on benches and everyone just talks to their neighbors.

You've got some good suggestions from Phipps and littlechi92.
"the viagra triangle", priceless! :D

I always have fun at National 27, good fun latin atmosphere, mojitos are great and the food is good to terrific, can't help but get in a great mood with that music playing.

Avec while not cheap is some one of the best restaurants going now in Chicago and is way cool as metioned for it's communal atmosphere, so if Mr. Excitement is not that exciting you'll have easy friends to make while there.
