Quiet and Romantic

We have been to many top restaurants where the noise level was punishing. We will be in Chicago for SOFA around November 5th and staying near Navy Pier. Any suggestions in the "Quiet and Romantic" category a short walk or taxi ride from the pier?

I have looked at several threads here and Spiaggia looks interesting, but I cannot tell if it will pass the quiet test. We've done and enjoyed Tru but want to try some place different.

Any advice?

No advice? There must be a quiet and romantic venue in Chicago somewhere.

I quite like Roy's (superior and state) and is walkable from Navy Pier - but you need to make a reservation

Per a buddy of mine who lives in Chicago:

"Skylight Bar and Grille at 2824 N. Ashland"

And I just remembered, Nick's Fish Market, Clark and Monroe Streets. Make a Reservation here. Definitely passes the quiet test.
From Gayot Restaurant Reviews

Nick’s has a look that is reminiscent of a 50s supper club that fell into the 90s. The main dining room is still on the lower level, and spacing between tables and intimate one-step-up booths make for polite and easy conversation (read: low noise level). This is a very service-oriented restaurant from the guy who takes your car to the hosts to the waiters and busboys.

Everest or others

Couple of thoughts from my days in Chicago...

Everest is pricey but well worth it IMHO. One of the best (fancy) meals I've ever eaten. That's a very short ride from Navy Pier--it's above one of the exchanges. Totally high-end, great view, fantastic service.

Ambria is a little further of a cab ride ($8 instead of $4) but closer than the Ashland option listed above. Very classy French restaurant in Lincoln Park.

There are lots of other nice places, but for fancy and quiet, these two are great. Just a quick caution--almost all of the steakhouses like Gibsons, Mortons and others are extremely noisy (although the food is generally great).

Have a great time
