Chicago Air And Water Show

Or at least you'll feel like you ought to tip your head a little as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels fly above during the 46TH ANNUAL CHICAGO AIR AND WATER SHOW. Most die-hard fans head to North Avenue Beach to see (and hear) the aviation action, but Montrose Beach offers an acceptable view with far smaller crowds, and play-by-play if you tune your radio to WBBM-AM Newsradio 780. The show, held Aug. 21 and Aug. 22 beginning at 9:00 a.m., is free save for the cost of earplugs. 312-744-3315, http://www.cityofchicago.org/specialevents

Seeing the show from a boat on Lake Michigan is optimal but it is still a great show from "the sidelines"

The Bloe Angels started practice runs today on the north side of the city. From my roof I watch them turn around and head south. It is so cool, the noise is deafing at times!
