straight edge razor shaves
I had recently had my first shave done by a barber with a straight edge razor. It was a relaxing, incredibly close shave. Unfortunately it was done in Seattle, not quite nearby.
I found a local barbershop that does shaving at State Street Barbers, 1151 W. Webster, 773.477.7721 For $25 it was the same wonderfully relaxing experience. There are not many barbers that still do this. Anyone else know of any in the Chicagoland area? |

My favorite is the old fashioned haircut with the neck being shaved afterwards - hot towels, warm shaving cream, very relaxing. |

I'm not positive (since I haven't had one done), but I'm pretty sure the Noyes Street Barber Shop in Evanston does that. They've always used a straight razor to shave the back of my neck like ILuvParis described.
It's on Noyes just west of the Purple Line stop. |
The is a Molton Brown Shave shop in the 900 N Michigan shops. Follow the signs to the parkling garage and you will find it tucked away in the back.
