ROADSIDE FLOWER SALE at the Chicago Botanic Garden (1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, 847-835-5440, www.chicagobotanic.org). From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday (August 6-8, 2004), choose from more than 400 dried flower arrangements, bouquets and potpourri. Proceeds will benefit the Chicago Botanic Garden programs.

You'll be guaranteed to find between 50 and 100 varieties of mushrooms without getting dirt under your fingernails. In fact, everything you needed to know about the edible fungi will be at your fingertips at the ILLINOIS MYCOLOGICAL ASSN. SHOW AND SALE, held at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
