Can anyone talk to us about what is new and fun and tasty there....

I have a client I would like to send a little -411 to and will be traveling there later this year.

Sorry to reply so late but just looked at the food board. I have heard that True Thai has exceptional food. It's located at about 2800 Franklin Avenue near Fairview Riverside Hospital. They have a noon buffet but also have lots of special dishes on their menu that are unavailable in other Twin Cities Thai restaurants.

We normally head to University Avenue which has many Asian restaurants to choose from. The Saigon has delicious french roll pork/vegetable sandwiches and some of the smaller grocery stores on Univ have very cheap delis offering sandwiches and meals.

greg, the Twin Cities is rought with really good restaurants. Only judging by two posts, cecelia really really likes Thai and Asian food, but trust me there is way more.

Really the best of the best in Minneapolis belongs to three restaurants: Goodfellows, Manny's, and Aquavit. Goodfellows is New American, Manny's is steak (and MIGHTY fine steak at that), and Aquavit is very similar to it's New York counterpart.

The chef at Aquavit is very interesting.. Marcus Samuelsson. He's from Ethiopia (I think... somewhere in Africa). Just a great chef. Great and interesting ingredient combos in his dishes.

Oh and there's always the chains.. Oceanaire, Copelands, Friday's, etc. etc. I try to avoid those.

There's some great places on Nicollet Mall, heading towards Orchestra Hall. Zelo is awesome at 9th and Nicollet (and one block from my apt http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdi...orum/smile.gif), Brasserie Zinc in pretty decent at 10th, and Vincent's is exceptional right across from the Hall itself.

Minneapolis is one of those towns.. the food has gotten sooooo much better in the past three years. Cecelia is right about the Asian food... there's some great stuff to be had.

Not to disagree with MSPMAN's post, but to jump to the defense of dining in St. Paul, here are several good spots. Pazaluna, Fhimas, St. Paul Grill (better ambiance than food), Heartland, Punch Woodfire Pizza, and 128 Cafe. Also, Vine Park Brewery, probably the best food at a microbrewery in town.

For some it would be nice to go to the St. Paul grill or some other restraunt downtown St. Paul then go to a Wild game, since those are quite fun and most people enjoy them (not to mention that they are in their 3rd year in existance they are in the playoff chase!!!). Wild tickets are really in demand now though, so you might have trouble getting tickets if you go that route.
