The Chop House and Nicks were average

I had dinner at Nicks and The Chop House this weekend. I found both to be an "average" expensive retauarant.

Next trip I will be more adventuresome.

Surprising, because Nick's always seems to get such rave reviews.

Or maybe, NOT surprising, considering that I believe Charlie Trotter's is quite overrated, as well as some other of the highly praised, well-known restaurants in Chicago (like Morton's, or Bacino's, or Frontera Grill).

Could not agree more about both. Both are SOOOOOOOOO overated and overpriced.

Any time a client requests that they wish to go there, I talk them into something else.

Had dinner this evening at the Chop House with my boss, a lifetime Chicago resident, meat eater. Oddly he had never been there.

We ate in the (smoking zone) bar area, and the food was very good. Frankly, it was one of the better steaks I've had in Chicago in years (I visit Chicago about 8 times a year).

16oz. strip steak is an above average value at $28.95, as it includes a salad and potato. Service was also above average, but the restaurant was actually pretty empty most of the time we were there.

I'll return without hesitation.
