Wrong way escalators at ORD

I over the past few years have used remote parking and taken the tram to Terminal 1 (UA).

As one gets off the tram, takes the escalator up to the walkway, one then has to cross over and go down the escalator on the left side (as approaching terminal), instead of the "normal" right hand side.

Usually not a problem, but if there are alot of people, it can be quite a jam.

This past weekend, I took the walkway from Terminal 2 to the tram.

Escalators were on the "proper" sides, there were tons of people and it flowed so smoothly. I wonder why the terminal 1 walkway escalators are reversed like that?

I've long wondered that as well, and have seen it be a bit of a mess there.

And speaking of T1 escalators. I'm annoyed that they took away the down near B7 and turned it into an up for an employee security checkpoint. All of the sudden I've been coming into the low B gates (instead of either end of C) the last couple of weeks and end up needing to go the long way out now to get down to baggage claim.
