Skycap service at ORD

At the end of the month I will be flying ORD-DEN on UA just for a weekend of skiing.
I will have my skis and a large duffel bag (my ski boots will be in it). I usually take the "L" to ORD, but not with skis. (By the way, I did take skis on the "L" once...bad idea).
So, since its just a weekend, I'm going to drive and park in the long-term parking.

The question: can I pull up to the departures, check my two bags with a Skycap, and then drive away to the parking lot? Any security restrictions with this? What if I'm selected for random screening?
I don't want to shlep my skis and big bag on the train from the parking lot if possible.
Thanks for your help. http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ft...orum/smile.gif

Skycap check-in when you are driving yourself is not an option. If you leave your car unattended while you check-in, overzealous police will yell at you and threaten to call you a terrorist.

Even if I pull up right next to a Skycap and am standing right next to my vehicle the whole time?

I tried this soon after 9-11 and was refused in a big way.

Don't know if can be done now though.

I now leave my ultra heavy luggage next to the airport tram terminal and go park the car, although I'm still taking a chance as my bags could be seen as unclaimed baggage.

I don't know how far away from the airport you live, but how about a taxi?

Its about $30-35 each way, so parking for the weekend is cheaper. Plus, putting skis in a taxi didn't work very well last time. (I tried it once before).
