Turkish Airlines to Detroit

Any rumors on when Turkish Airlines will make their new Detroit flights bookable.

The TK CEO earlier this quarter said — in relation to Denver and Detroit — that they were planning to start these two TK US routes in a coming period depending on opportunities and market conditions TK faces. To me that “opportunities and market conditions” language is quite a hedge by TK, and I take it as a sign that DTW-IST won’t be bookable for at least the next few more months if not even longer (or even much longer).

There is a big chunk of DTW-Europe DL/SkyTeam traffic that TK could pick up out of DTW, but between fuel costs and what inflation is doing to consumer’s pockets, DTW-IST may be taking a back seat for some time and then some.
