Iowa State Fair

Just seen that Im going to be in the Des Moines area when the fair is on.

Is it worth going for a day?

Certainly. I spent two days there last time I went. Have been a number of times.
Eat at the UMC tent and have some pie. it's been there since the first year (the tent not the pie...)
See the clydesdales. Check out pioneer hall. Don't miss the sand castle or the butter sculptures.

Just don't try to get a camping spot - they say it's a 20 year waitlist now for a registered spot.

Disclaimer: I am from Iowa originally with some connections to the fair as a kid, and enjoy the exhibits and agricultural side more than the commercial side of a fair or the rides.
