DTW inbound hold til tuesday?

Waiting for a family member to fly in from LGA and he just texted they're going back to the gate to deplane. No departure ETA (he's flying Spirit, so everything is probably a crapshoot with them anyway).

I checked Flightaware, and they're showing a 1 hour departure delay out of DTW, and holding inbound planes at point of departure until 6:15 pm Tuesday. Up to 7" snow expected tonight, but only about an inch so far.

The DTW site isn't showing anything about weather - given that it's xmas even I can see them being at low staff levels and not covering public announcements very quickly, and also being short staffed for keeping things moving with a bunch of delayed aircraft.

Any other confirmation of all inbound being held til tues?

DTW currently has a ground-stop.

Ground-stops don't have an estimated "wheels-up" time, they just have an update time. At the update time the ground-stop could be either extended or lifted. If it is lifted, a ground-delay program (GDP) is likely.

In a GDP, each flight is given an Expect Departure Clearance Time (EDCT), frequently called a "wheels-up time". The EDCT can then be revised to either earlier or later and a ground-stop can always be reinstated.

The current update time for the DTW ground-stop is 2315Z with is 6:15pm EST.

You can see the current status of ground-stops and ground-delays at the following link.

latest update shows the ground stop as lifted, so things might start moving. They reboarded at LGA, but still haven't left the ground.
