ORD T5 security line options?
Does ORD T5 have any other security lines beyond the general line? I know they don't currently have any Pre-Check lanes. But what about something like a priority line for First/Business class passengers?
I've done a fair amount of searching and haven't been able to find an answer. This leads me to suspect the answer is "no" but I haven't been able to find the question asked specifically. As background (ie, feel free to ignore), my wife and I are planning to book a flight in business class flying Austrian Business class. As a teacher, my wife can't just leave an hour early. We *should* have enough time even if we're stuck in the general security lines, but I'm just trying to solve potential problems before deciding to book it. So if there was a Priority/First/Business line I'd feel a bit more comfortable going ahead than if it's "general security or bust." |

Yes, there is a line for Business/First. If you're looking at the entrance to the checkpoint it's on the left side. The document checkers will usually shuffle people to the correct line.

Reports from May 2019 are that the T5 First/Business Lane closes at 8:00pm local time and that only general security is available after this time.

The 2nd checkpoint (officially called Checkpoint 11) appears it will be open 8 hours a day from 1200-2000 daily. The aim is no later than June 6th for startup. Just so you know, the departure lines have been extremely long on the weekends. I would allow additional time if you're departing T5 and I would highly suggest to take the TTB from the domestic terminals if you're connecting. |
We'll be departing from T5 in about a month. Based on our departure (ET511 departing 9:24 AM) I assume there will be no Business/First security line.

I had an issue with LOT on Sunday where the BP on my phone initially would't scan at T1 - I was headed to the Polaris lounge. It was odd- ORD- WAW wouldn't scan but WAW-DUS would. The kind TSA agents told be to go back out to print my BP, but, um, LOT has no presence in T1. So I instead took the landside shuttle to T1 - hot as blazes, flies - hundreds of flies, and the trip from T1 to T5 took 30 minutes, but that's all another story.
In any case, I got to T5 to find that the LOT desks didn't open for over and hour (I was planning on Polaris time). Having time on my hands, I discovered that I had an email BP with a PDF as well. When I opened that it gave me a different BP barcode. Not sure If I was supposed to use the fast lane for my LOT Business class BP, I spotted the fast line all the way to the left and thought "let's give this a try", there was no line, the agent waved me through and the BP scanned just fine. No line and very easy. |
There's been an ongoing experiment to have Lane 7 within CP10 be used as a TSA Precheck lane. Passengers checking in would receive a BLUE card. Once entering the CP queue and once near the document checker that's where you would be directed over.
