Last year UA added PHX and LAS at various times not back while LAS is served by Frontier and Spirit and Southwest on weekends PHX has only Frontier and Southwest on Weekends AA no longer operates a direct there is definitely a opportunity here for UA.
Southwest only has 11 flights down almost by half pre pandemic.

Upon returning to the CLE yesterday afternoon, only one of the four moving walkways between the terminal and the "Smart" parking garage were operational (one of them has had the maintenance barrier on it for at least a year if not more). Furthermore, there are a plethora of spots in the garage that are blocked off. I'm curious if they are choosing not to invest very many resources to repair this if replacement/refurbishment is in the works as part of the Master Plan.

In reality there's probably a bit of apathy combined with a bit of supply chain issues (I have a nearly $200m new-build building that is essentially "finished" but the move in is being delayed indefinitely, in part, due to the availability of certain elevator parts)... For the blocked off spaces they seem to be moving slightly and I wonder if some of it may be a need for more favorable/stable weather conditions.
I still need to get me some "Cleveland: Est semper proximus annus" T-Shirts printed up

Given that the master plan is probably at best a decade before meaningful implementation I doubt that the two are directly related... save for perhaps one getting more of the airports attention.

I love many things about Cleveland -- the arts, the culture, the cost of living, the lack of traffic, the fact that we have all of the major sports teams represented. I don't actually care about the sports but that's another nice thing about living here: If any one asks me what I think about the Brovaliadns I can reliably get away with saying "Eh. There's always next year" and no one knows I haven't watched a game in over a decade.

Also, despite all those issues with the garage, the only lament I have about them is just making parking more limited - CLE often runs out of parking for the airport these days! At least visitors to the city/airport don't see the garage much (if at all) and it is mainly for local benefit. Personally, I would love to be able to take the train all the way home!

I would purchase one of those shirts and enjoy explaining the Latin to everyone who asks!

Agree with the appeal of taking the train all the way to the airport... Having our second home (wife's primary residence) in DC and being completely carless on that side of the world it's wonderful... If you have a reliable mass transit system with a wide enough network. There our nearest Metro station is less than a block away. Here I'm within a 1-2 miles of Cedar-University and Little Italy -- just far enough to be impractical to walk with any kind of luggage most of the year, and downright dangerous parts of the year -- and I've heard enough horror stories about the Red line not running/being replaced by busses/.... that it's not really worth the gamble. Would be lovely if it worked. On the flip side doing IAD to our NoMA/Union Station apartment is well over an hour on the train (DCA is probably about 40ish minutes) -- but not actually that much slower than a car.

Yeah, ever since the long term parking garage was torn down parking has been an inconvenient nightmare. After 3 trips in a row of trying to park on airport and failing, I've just given up generally and use ParkPlace/FastPark.

I've got a friend in Lakewood and he is a little more than a mile from the W 117th station. You're technically not supposed to park there long term, but he's parked there and taken the train to Hopkins for shorter trips before. I wonder if he calls the transit police to get permission for that. I'm all for Transit Oriented Development. I've toyed with the idea of getting a place in the future that's very near or connected to a Red Line Station (INTRO comes to mind, but it's a bit pricy!).

Has anyone actually booked a trip on Aer Lingus? I'm looking at some decent fares to the UK around Thanksgiving. Start of service is only about 2 months away. I wonder how the bookings look. Also wonder which gate the flights will use since there is US pre-clearance in DUB so passengers don't have to endure the inadequate FIS facilities at CLE.

- There are lots of locals who either are of Irish descent (or believe they are).
- Ireland is a popular destination that has English speakers (sort of), rather than those "scary" countries that don't speak it.
- The subsidies EI receives.
- Fear or distrust of places outside good ol' America. "There's so much to see in this country," is a common refrain I hear, particularly from my in-laws who worry that I'm risking their daughter's life by "dragging" her to "risky" places like the Netherlands, France or Italy for crying out loud. (Not making this up.)
- Even those unafraid often don't "get" that they can fly Ireland's airline onward to places other than Ireland.
- And those who do get it may prefer a U.S. East Coast airport connection rather than one at DUB.
RNE, not expecting many FlyerTalkers to raise their hands to your question, despite our travel enthusiasm far exceeding that of the average Joe strolling down Euclid Ave.
