Chicago reference guides

Can anyone recommend some good references for finding things to do while in Chicago? In particular, live music. Other pluses are events, attractions, festivals, food. There are, of course, a plethora so I'd like to know which are the best. Timeout, Chicago Reader, Metromix, ChooseChicago..what do the locals use or which are the best?
Thank you!

For years my go-to site was Metromix, but I think it was a victim of its own popularity...drove me crazy when the "events" listings included every single happy hour at every single bar in town.

I'd probably recommend timeout.com/chicago for event listings.

agree with both statements, I'm also a fan of Chicago Reader, listing for music here: http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago...ion?oid=846991 but they have arts & culture as well.

Excellent, I thought Timeout and Chicago Reader looked pretty good but wasn't sure and I hadn't come across TheatreinChicago yet. I appreciate the feedback.

Also www.broadwayinchicago.com is similar in some ways.

And this might be worth a look, though it seems to be winding down for the year: http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en...festivals.html
