SAVE UBER in Illinois!!!!!

Sign the petition to help save Uber in Illinois. More details here:

https://action.uber.org/illinois/

Remember, the outcome of this legislation in Illinois can be important for other states too!

This petition is more appropriate for TravelBuzz since there is no opportunity to improve one's Uber account...

Uber/Lyft/Sidecar do not serve my community (33 mi west of downtown Chicago)

If they disappear, it won't impact me.

If I knew what Uber is or was I might want to save it.

I have a strange sneaking suspicion that a well-funded start-up with a valuation in the billions probably has some pricy lobbyists working for them. Signing a petition is tantamount to [edited by Moderator] into the wind.

It is a ride share program in the USA:

When Uber sent me emails (repeatedly) to lobby my state senator on their behalf, I did in fact contact my state senator. However, they may not have liked what I wrote. I encouraged my state senator to fight for a level playing field. Either taxi and other livery drivers should be exempt from current legislation requiring licensing and taxation, or all drivers of similar services should continue to be subject to licensing and taxation requirements. It is morally unethical and legally unjust to subject one party to an unfair disadvantage while not enforcing those same regulations on their competitors.

Not true, Uber does go that far. I rode from a western suburb 25 mi to Chicago. Ride would have costed ~$55 but I had referral credits.

not a very wise response for someone asking for other's help. Why not educate.

There is a movement to get them into the Quad-Cities. As one young professional stated on TV, "when you have to wait an hour or longer late at nite for a cab and times they don't even show up, I'd welcome them into the area".

It will be interesting to see the outcry when someone is abducted and killed by someone posing as one of these drivers. No licensing, means you know absolutely nothing about them. You literally are getting in a car with a stranger whom you met on the internet.

My mother taught me never to do that.

Who has:

1. A background check
2. An inspected vehicle registered with Uber
3. A bank account with linked address information for payment

Maybe a step up on hopping into a vehicle cruising the street.

So Uber says. Mom's not buying.
