Taxis are pretty cheap in Chicago. I would take the Blue Line to State/Lake for $2.25 each and get a cab. Probably $5-7.
You could spend the first night by ORD. Could save some money and not have to worry about going into a strange city at night. Plenty of free shuttles from the airport to nearby hotels. Cab from airport would be somewhere around $40+. I just saw that the Clark/Lake (blue line) is a mile or 3 mins from the Doubletree,so that looks like a great taxi ride. My friend is actually staying at the Westin in Rosemont from Monday to Wednesday and was actually my first choice so she would not have to move her luggage around too much, but she and I agree to stay in the city. |

The way this winter has been going you should be fine walking around the city in early March. Pack some layers and waterproof shoes/boots. ;) |

Westin Rosemont is walking distance from Rosemont CTA, so if you stay there Thursday night you can easily get to the station in the morning and/or walk there Sunday night after a stay in the city. There are other hotels very close to either Rosemont or Cumberland CTA stop.

It's really tough to say. There is no snow on the ground at all right now, but we're supposed to get some in the next couple of days. Realistically, it'll only be tough to walk around if we get a bunch of snow while you're here (or an absolute dumping a day or two before). Loop/River North/Mag Mile get cleared pretty quickly after a snow.
I usually wear Adidas shoes (casual). |

No, seriously - tell that one again. That was funny. :D:D:D |

Check the weather the day before you come in to see. Usually tennis shoes would be fine, but if it's recently snowed, boots might be better in case of snow and ice

I almost always find a space within a few storefronts of where I want to be, never more than 1.5 blocks. Loop can be more of a challenge but still much better than it was. Even though my company pays for garage parking, I pride myself on treating my expense money as it were my own (meaning being a cheap arse & finding on the street parking). |

CTA w/ a bit of Taxi
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to mention that I had a wonderful time using the CTA this last few days, rather then renting a car,CTA was great! Before leaving,my city adventure partner opted to use a Taxi from the Doubletree Hotel on Ohio to Westin O'Hare, damn did that trip take long and was under $40 (glad I did not pay for it). CTA would have been faster IMO. Again, had a great time using CTA,I hope to anyone visiting that you would use it also. Thanks Again Everybody for your input and advise,All Appreciated. Sal |
