Getting from Millenium Station to Blue Line

I'm attending the United Do Thurs-Fri. Since we're going to be at ORD, downtown & Shaumburg & UA is providing transportation, couldn't figure out where/what to do w/ the car if I drove the entire way.

So I've decided to drive to Michigan City, IN, tomorrow morning and catch the South Shore commuter at 4:55am (yawn) to downtown/Millenium Station, arriving at 6:38am. I then need to get to the blue line to go to ORD to arrive by 8am. I'm assuming that's do-able? I really don't want to take the 4:03am if I don't have to do so.

However, I have no idea what the closest stop is for the blue line from Millenium Station (which is on Randolph?) & how long it will take me to get to it from MS. Any input appreciated, so I don't waste time wandering around lost.

On the return I'll already be downtown, so will just cab or walk from the Willis Tower to MS. Don't know how far apart they are?

Cheers. Sharon

I think it's about the same distance to either the Clark & Lake stop or the Washington stop. Google Directions says it should take you about 48 minutes total, including walking between stations, via the Washington stop.

Your morning plan is doable, it's about a four or five block walk to either station mentioned above. I'd say Washington to MS might be slightly less than Clark and Lake. Returning Willis Tower to MS is about a mile walk.

You could also get off at Van Buren and walk to Jackson Blue Line Station in the morning.

May I make an alternative suggestion?

Just south of the LaSalle stop on the Blue Line are a number of parking lots that charge in the neighborhood of $8-10 a day. There's certainly one I walk the dog past between Harrison and Polk on Clark St. These lots are also less than a mile away from "Big Willie". General directions are to come up the Dan Ryan, take the exit toward the Loop and then hang a right onto Clark. The lot is a block and a half south on Clark. You'll see the LaSalle entrance as you turn onto Pollk.

The Washington stop is maybe a 3/4 block closer than the Clark/Lake stop. 10-12min walk...tops. If the weather is bad, you can take the underground pedway from Millenium Station all the way to the Washington stop.

+1 for this option. I used to walk this way to and from work a few years ago from the south end of the Lake St. red line stop to the Aon Center and it is a very different side of Chicago. However, be warned that it is not signed very well nor is it intuitive for first-timers (so, you might want to take a copy of the map linked above).

You all are great! Thanks so much for the info. I'll use it next time!

I was going to do the drive/commuter train/blue line to ORD to get to United Do registration, but when I went online to print out the Do email w/ details I made the mistake of reading & responding to a couple of biz emails, which then put me very close to whether I'd make the commuter train at 4:55am & the next one would get me to ORD too late. So rather than get to Michigan City & just miss it & have to drive anyway, I'm going to Plan B.

Plan B is now to drive the entire way & do registration at the Schaumburg Hyatt instead of at ORD. The only downside to Plan B is that instead of catching the commuter train from Willis Tower tomorrow, I'll be on the Do bus back to Schaumburg & leaving from there, which will put me into rush hour.

Again, thanks for the help!

Cheers. Sharon
