MKE named 14th worst airport in U.S. by the Daily Beast; ORD was #1. Click on the red "next" button to scroll thru the rankings.

Whatever...
17th worst or 14th best?
I don't think there's much methodology here.

A couple of MKE items I noticed the past couple of times passing through this month:
(a) Construction is underway to put a third jetway at the north hammerhead. Traditionally D46 / D47 have been one jetway and D48 / D49 have been another:
What has been D48/D49 will be D49
What has been D46/D47 will be D48
To the west/southwest of what has been D46/D47 is new door which will be called D47.
The exterior placards are already changed, but I don't think the numbers internally will be changed until the new D47 opens. The exterior sign for D46 is squeezed in between D44 and the new D47, and I have doubts it's really a parking spot. It looks like the north hammerhead will be reconfigured for three full-sized aircraft. Putting four planes on the hammerhead was always tight in the DC9 days and worked better when D44 had no jetway and was a Skyway gate. I don't think four Airbus/Ejet would be realistic now anyway.
The idea of putting another jetway, when I first heard of it, was in conjunction with D30 being decommissioned to make more room for improved baggage handling. With Frontier's cutbacks, they have been concentrating operations into D39-D54 anyway, and I wondered if the addional jetway would be added. But it looks like it's still underway.
(b) United closed Contnental's ticket counter and it is consolidated with United's in the north part of the ticketing lobby. Although the EWR / CLE / IAH flights are still operating out of E, and there's no official word I know of on where the consolidated UA will operate, having ticketing consolidate on the north side suggests C. If they were going to use E, it would make more sense to have used CO's space.
(c) The USO space is open on D. I hope that the concourse has some decent traffic volume in 2012. I'm pretty sure service people not flying out of D can access it, but it's a lot more convenient if travelers are already on D.

That was more or less my impression, as well. You have such a way with words, knope.

MKE's PDF flight schedule updated on 12/14/2011 does not seem to display any F9 service to Florida - neither direct, nor connecting flights. It's really odd, as some of the most obscure destinations and routings are included in the schedule, including flights that are not eff till 2012.

I didn't realize that the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee was considered an airport, though the Olympic speed skaters sure do fly around the oval.
