Smile Anyone Pass Through ORD on UA 1/27? Did You Notice It?

I was in T1 at ORD this afternoon from about 2pm to 4pm, and a few minutes after my arrival I noticed something was weird. I couldn't figure it out at first, but then, it hit me, and a wave of joy swept over me!

SILENCE! Absolute, total silence! It was MAGNIFICENT! All the time I was there, no paging, no announcements, no TSA nonsense blaring throughout the terminal every 20 seconds. NOTHING! The building was silent! I sat for a few minutes just to listen and make sure I was right. Not a sound. I asked an agent who had just closed a flight and was at a nearby gate. She listened for a while, and said she hadn't noticed it before, but she realized she hadn't heard any announcements in a while. A giant smile came over her, and she went away happy.

Anyone else at ORD today notice it? I'm sure it was a technical glitch somewhere, and somebody is fixing it already. But wouldn't it be nice if...

But but but.....if they get rid of the TSA announcements, how in the world will I know what color the current threat advisory is? How will I know how fearful I should be?

Probably outsourced it to India. But, seriously, I've never undersood what purpose the TSA messages served after you were already through security. Glad they're gone, we'll see how long it lasts.

Can we also get rid of "The moving walkway is now ending. Please look down."

I'm was happy when they stopped the obnoxious Olympics announcements. This is just icing on the cake,

I always enjoy those announcements at ORD because the announcer guy sounds exactly like our good friend ElmhurstNick! ^
