New Year Systemwide Fare Sale

The annual start-of-the-year fare sale was rolled out today:

This is definitely something of a tradition for Midwest, and their customers are somewhat conditioned to wait for this sale. What always seemed smart to me about this particular sale is that coincides with the fresh batch of vacation days so many people get with the new calendar year. I've often wondered why not every airline has a similar sale.

It's interesting to see this year's newspaper ad feature so many more cities than past years...Salt Lake City, Portland, San Jose, Sacramento, Anchorage. Also in this year's ad is this box:

Two Great Airlines Working Together
When you book your travel through midwestairlines.com, you may travel on a Midwest Airlines flight or a Frontier Airlines flight. Through are partnership with Frontier Airlines, you now have more opportunities to fly to more destinations. In some instances this involves the codesharing of Frontier flights through Denver, Colorado. In other instances, you may find a Frontier Airlines Airbus 319 operating a Midwest flight; this enables us to fly longer flights to destinations important to our passengers. On all these flights, you can earn Midwest Miles. And no matter what plane you're on, you will always be assured of exceptional service at a great fare.
Kind of wordy, but it's a step in the right direction no matter if the brands will eventually merge or remain distinct.

My Father is a fan of Alaska and when he saw the fares in the paper for FAI and ANC he was surprised at how cheap they were. I had to explain to him that he would more than likely have to connect in DEN but he still insisted it would be MSP. But then I got to thinking.... Delta might match these fares with the YX Code Share. I'll have to check it out later.
