Transit in Dammam

I have a trip coming up that might require me to transit through Dammam (DMM) airport, Saudi Arabia. Anyone have experience connecting through that airport? Seems like an odd place to transit, but the flight times are convenient and the price is good. One of my concerns would be what happens if my flight is cancelled and I'm stuck there for awhile. I already have a good list of airports I don't want to be stuck at, Doha, Windhoek, Ankara, etc, etc. Don't need to add another.

Are you a citizen of the GCC? If not: Might want to look up transit visas on FT.

Based on other threads it looks like this could be potentially problematic for non-GCC citizens so I won't book it.

On the other hand....is it tempting for you to pass through THE largest airport in the world?
