Dubai Visa
Just planned a trip to Dubai, travelling in from a tour from Mumbai. Anyone know if a visa is needed to get into Dubai for Canadian citizens? Staying at the Jumeriah Beach Sheraton, any thoughts on must see's for my 5 day trip.
Are the taxis expensive or is it worthwhile booking a tour type package for a couple of days. Thanks in advance. |
Canadian citizens do not need a visa to Dubai. You get 30 days on arrival. Technically, they can refuse you entry if you have Israeli stamps on the passport. In practice, they will let you in.

that helps,
thanks very much. |
May i ask same question for US citizens?

I was only there four days and found that taking the double decker bus tour which is hop on hop off was really good to get acquainted with the lay of the land (Catch it at the City Center Mall). It has two routes a city and beach and you can do both in an afternoon. Tickets were valid for 24 hours and also included free admission to the Dubai Museum. |

If you don't get car sick (like I do), try to do the desert tour. You get a good intro to desert/Bedewin life as dinner is usually served out in the open desert towards the end of the trip. You can book that through your hotel. Taxis are indeed very inexpensive. A lot of people talk about renting a car but it is really not necessary in Dubai. Enjoy your trip. However, please note that if you are traveling during the Holy month of Ramadan (should start around the 24th of September and end around the 22nd of October), things might get a bit "quiet" during the daytime hours. |
