Connection at T1 DXB
I have an upcoming 90 minute transfer into / out of Terminal 1 at DXB. No change of terminal required.
Are arrivals kept separate and require re-clearing security (coming in from Germany if that helps) before heading to the departure lounge / gates? Or, is it a bit like Schengen arrivals in the EU where you end up directly in the departures area? I've not transited through Terminal 1 so I'm not sure what to expect. It looks like I'll be arriving / departing at the D gates. |
Short answer: No, it is absolutely nothing like Schengen. DXB T1 strictly segregates arriving and departing pax. You will deplane, follow the "Connections" signs, and be forced through a transfer security checkpoint before you can go up the escalators to the departure level at Concourse D.
90 minutes is sufficient for D-to-D, provided your inbound from Germany is on time. Just don't stop for a smoke before you clear that checkpoint; the lines can be unpredictable during peak banks. |
I did the transfer yesterday. I was off the aircraft, through transfer security and back in the departure lounge within 15 minutes. Security had no passengers going through it but sadly the Lufthansa lounge was closed.
I had prepared myself to end up on some transit to T3 and back but all I needed to know what that there was a transfer facility within the terminal, making my back-to-back points run super easy, with time to buy some dates. |
Glad to hear that you smoothly transferred, DXB is a small airport :D
