Any suggestions for a guide in each city and transportation between each city?

There should be a coach service between these two cities every couple hours, you can use public transportation card that can be purchased at the bus station. Bus should take around 90min or so from Abu Dhabi to Dubai.

I'm still happy with the bus: fast, frequent, comfortable and cheap (AED25). OK, limos, taxis and Uber are more convenient and faster... but the delta in pricing for a single person is significant. If you are travelling with others, the equation changes.

Have you considered hiring a car? They're not that expensive, driving in the UAE is pretty easy, petrol is very cheap and most hotels seem to offer free parking. I'm currently in AUH for a few weeks and having a car has been really useful. Heading off to RAK for a few days next and then into the desert as well, but even just having one to hop around town has been great.

Last month, Careem from Abu Dhabi to Dubai was 345 AED.

free bus, nonstop! save $100. 3 of us, my wife me and our young kid took the free eithad shuttle form abu dhabi to dubai. it stoppedtat a small bus park and ordered uber to hotel which costed us only like $10.

Yes, that's a great service .... if you are flying Etihad into AUH.
