Just tried to enter Qatar on 01Nov, 0630am LT without a Hayya Card and tried to persuade immigration that I want to enter for the day only (I had my boarding pass as proof to show my twelve hour layover). No chance. They told me I must apply for the Hayya Card to enter the country from 01Nov which means a world cup ticket and booked and confirmed accomodation. Lust week I entered Qatar with my German passport there was no problem. I was granted a stay until 15Nov.
hope this helps. rg Michael |
Tried to enter Qatar to hotel in Doha for 15 hour layover. Also was denied entry without Hayya card. No ability to obtain one since not here for World Cup. I carefully reviewed entry requirements just days ago and saw no reference to this new requirement.
If the rule is published and I missed it, shame on me. But I just looked again on the Qatari health ministry site and on QR's website and still no mention. Very frustrated. Many others similarly situated, I was told. Fortunate that the "sold out" Oryx hotels had rooms. Also note: New shops and lounges at end of C terminal are open. |
Seems for the group stage of WC only ticket holders can enter. Around Dec 1st when that ends then fans without tickets can enter but still need Hayya card

I just got a Hayya card. I had to book a hotel even though my daughter and her family live in Doha and I plan to stay with them. Question is can I cancel my hotel now?
|
Are there any official news/information from what date on the hayya card is no longer needed and normal Visa Rules will be reinstated?
|
Does anyone have any experience with the ‘day visit’ Hayya card designed for those without an overnight stay?
We’re transiting in Doha on separate tickets next week (before the end of the Hayya period on 23 December), and we’re now both at the “pending accommodation “ stage. Might be best to get in touch with them? There seems not to be a lot of info about this… |

To add to this, our applications are in the "pending accommodation" state, though the "Visit on a matchday" page doesn't seem to function yet / we don't appear as applicants.
Any thoughts would be welcome! (We need to get authorisation to enter the country for less than 4 hours unfortunately...) |
Answering my own question after speaking to the chat team:
- visit on a match day is only valid if you have a ticket (we do not) - we applied for the “early December Hayya” (for non ticket holders. This type of entry requires accommodation. As such, cheap accommodation was booked and will be discarded, but we both have approved entry permits now so I can start to relax a bit. There is still no clarity on what’s happening after the 23rd! |
Arriving dec 25 with a booked hotel layover. Hope and pray they just go back to their normal entry rules.

Worst case, as with much of the world if you're willing to put the ££ up you'll be fine, but obviously you want to save the QAR500 per person if you can avoid it! |
