Israel private guide
 

A friend and I (both in our 70’s) are planning a trip to Israel in February. I hoping someone in the Forum can recommend a private guide. We are thinking that as two women traveling that might be the best way to go. We are looking at 8 days. Since this will be both of our first trip, I’d appreciate any recommendations on hotels, restaurants etc. we are looking at the Christian sites but also want to incorporate some shopping, markets, and cultural

Born and educated in the US, her English is Native American perfect. However, she has lived in Israel over 30 years and is Israeli fluent in Hebrew. This IS important when she needs to get information or verify something. (there ARE English speaking guides with spotty Hebrew)

You do not need a guide for the entire 8 days. Israel is an easy country to tour on your own. Most people speak English and are helpful, All signs are in English. Many sites provides audioguides, brochures or their own guided tours. The places where a guide is most helpful is the Old City in Jerusalem and the many Christian sites around the Sea of Galilee, i.e. 2 or 3 days. Of course it is also a question of budget as guides are fairly expensive,
With only eight days, a typical tour would include 2-3 days in Jerusalem, 1 day day Dead Sea, 2-3 days Galilee and perhaps 1 day in Tel-Aviv. You should extend the trip if possible.
