Aqaba to Istanbul, short transit in Amman

I'm looking to book a single ticket Aqaba - Istanbul via Amman with Royal Jordanian. Since my first flight is domestic where do I do immigration, Aqaba or Amman? And can I just follow the transit signs in Amman or have to go out of the airport and start all over again?

The flights I'm looking at (booked as a single ticket from the RJ website) only have a one hour layover in Amman. Is this enough? Guess it all depends on if I can just transit, and if the first flight is ontime. I can't find any info online in regards to this.

If I miss my second flight there is another RJ one 6 hours later. Would it make sense to book the short connection in the hope I make the second flight, and if I don't RJ will then move me to the later Amman - Istanbul flight if there's availability. It must meet minimum connection time. Regards.
