Israel Jordan River / Sheikh Hussein Bridge crossing

Trying to get the best current information from you wise FTers. Am visiting family near Tiberius with my wife and new baby. The best flights I was able to get for us fly into Amman. I have been to Amman and Israel dozens of times but never crossed using the land border and am especially interested in recommendations/tips around logistics of using the Jordan River Crossing in terms of car services from Amman and what I might currently expect with crossing to/from the border. We would stay in Israel for a week then cross back to fly out of Amman again.

I really appreciate any current insights, thanks!

There are some "VIP Services" that you can pay to make the crossing a bit more simple.

If you are intending to hire a vehicle and cross over that way, sadly most apart from the odd one will not let you cross over in their vehicle (they simply want to both know if their vehicle leaves the country and also charge you a premium amount to do so).

Best bet might be a tour arrangement with a contact up front to set your date of return a week apart.

details a whole range of interesting tours some with free days included as well as accomodation albeit not the top hotels so best to upgrade those.

Do post how u got on as I am interested to do this myself in future although cheaper for me in reverse from israel to Jordan.

You can’t drive a rental vehicle across the border! (Either way)

There's a bus from Amman to Nazerath 3x/weekly if that's helpful!

If the direct bus isnt possible crossing the border you can get dropped off on the Jordanian side either by taxi or shuttle bus from Irbid(Change from Amman bus there) Then it's a shuttle bus (1 JD when I last took it) across the no man's land into Israel. The Israelis will board the bus as soon as you cross. You then arrive at the Israeli terminal. The last time I did it they were very curious why I went to Jordan and also why I didn't fly from AMM.. When you arrive in Beit Shean it's the middle of no where. Last time I took a taxi from there, but there is a bus service as well except on Shabbos. Hope this was helpful!
Cheers

I have a trip to Jordan and Israel in 1 week, flying into Amman and flying home from Tel Aviv, it is explained in the itinerary we will be taken by our Jordanian guide at the end of our Jordan tour to the boarder with direction and help to enter Israel. With our Israeli guide and van awaiting on the Israeli side proceeding to the week in Israel. Having read much about the boarder crossing that it is quite simple and that if we chose to travel on our own most transportation is the same, rental cars cannot be taken across the boarder, the countries remain separate and it's a walk across the river... I'm looking forward to this new experience. Safe travels to you and your family.
