Dubai Guide

I recently returned from a trip that included a long stop in Dubai. I searched around for a guide, and asked a number of concierges for advice. Most of the recommendations were stock day tours in which there was no personalization.

Finally, I received a referral to a private guide. We had three great days of touring in and around Dubai with a Aude Granzotto: [email protected]

We were really lucky to find her and we wholeheartedly recommend her for those of you who might want to private guide in the area.

Can you confirm that she has a work permit as a tourist guide, insurance, etc? If not, and something goes wrong, you (the customer) could be in just as much trouble as her.

I can confirm that she was referred by the concierge of a 5-star property. I did not ask to see her identity papers, but she did flash her ID to get into places without having to pay. In casual conversation, she talked about the process of getting a guide permit. Her husband happens to have a very responsible job in the UAE, and I cannot imagine she would jeopardize it by working in an illegal capacity.

What were the highlights of your 3 days, 747FC? I am planning a short stay in Dubai, will probably have 2 free days there, and would be grateful for any advice.

Day One we took an afternoon walking tour of the old city. Was great to do that after a 30+ hour trip the day before.

Day Two we did a tour of the New City, quite a contrast. Our guide being an architect was able to educate us quite a bit regarding the buildings we were seeing.

Day Three, we went into the countryside: Sand Dunes and Camel Races.

You might be able to do it all in two days if you make them full days and have a guide.

Have fun!
