How Much UAE Cash To Take

I am going to be in Dubai for 5 days on business. I will pay for as much as possible with corporate credit card but need some advice on how much cash (dirham) I need to take for incidentals like taxis and tips.

Also, I will be in Doha for a day. Is it typical that dirhams are accepted there?

Or, will US dollars be accepted in these countries?

It's probably easiest to bring the USD with you, then use forex when required to change to local currency. Everyone likes dollars. Alternatively, using an ATM card is also convenient.

+1 for what Canuck2012 said. I would also budget ~200 dirhams a day.

Some places in the UAE accept USD, but they give you a poor rate.

Same for using dirhams in Qatar, they will only give ~90% of the proper rate.

merchants in Dubai typically will accept Qatari Rials, but unfortunately, its not the same in Doha.
For cabs and other incidentals, I think 200-500 AED/QR per day should be good.
Atms are plentiful in both locations, and most vendors do accept credit cards (but not the regular cabbies or small shops). If you want to exchange USD, check the rates at multiple counters, there will be a considerable difference. Even some of the hotels exchange at outrageous rates, considering both currencies are pegged to the dollar and don't change.
