Restaurants in DXB
I hope that the mods will allow this thread the customary run here on the BA forum to take advantage of the traffic and knowledge before moving to a more suitable place. :)
As part of the planning for my May trip to an industry event in DXB I am looking for restaurant recommendations. I will be dining out for 4x lunch and 4x dinner. I want to visit JW's Steakhouse because I was a regular at the one in DOH, but that is as far as my plans go. So that is one dinner taken care of. In particular, I would welcome recommendations for the following categories of restaurants: * fine dining Chinese * mid-range or fine dining Iranian * fine dining Indian * reasonably authentic but not necessarily fine dining Italian. I prefer a la carte to buffet and ideally the restaurants would be in a location either close to Millennium Plaza/Emirates Towers or easily accessible on the metro. Alcohol is not essential. Trader Vics is out because I will be going to the one in AUH a few days later! Many thanks in advance! :) |
I would highly recommend Pai Thai for dinner situated on the waterways of Jumeirah Madinat. Nice location, good food, service and vibe.
|
Rang Mahal at the JW Marriott Marquis - very nice Indian.
|
Amal - at Armani Hotel (Indian)
|
Those recommendations look good - thanks! :)
|
For Fine Dining Chinese I'd recommend Noble House at the Raffles. The Grosvenor House also has a very good Indian, but I can't remember the name of it I'm afraid.

Has it closed down? |
Fine Dining Indian:
Indego at the Grosvenor. Bit further away but taxis are cheap. Indian Fusion: NiNa (Neither Indian Nor Asian) at the Arabian Court, Royal Mirage. Ditto |
I have read this with interest, 6F, but cannot help.
I have twice enjoyed eating in the Al Muntaha at the Burj Al Arab - lunch and brunch - but this does not meet your requirements. I have also eaten in McDonald's somewhere near Union Square but that won't do either! :) Have a great trip! ^ |
Fine dining Chinese: Zheng He's in the Jumeirah Mina A' Salam is pretty good, best to get a table outside and nice views of the Burj. There's a nice bar on the beach opposite after.
Fine dining Indian: the Indian restaurant in the Jumeirah Zabeel on the Palm is excellent. El Segreto in the Madinat Souk is a good Italian but quite formal and relatively expensive |

I was going to say the same... however, it doesn't appear on the Raffles website anymore.
Has it closed down? The restaurant, which received three Time Out awards, including Restaurant of the Year, when it first opened in 2008 will open under the new name TOMO in October 2012. TOMO will be an authentic Japanese restaurant with a renowned chef that has 30 years' experience in the region. What a shame, as Noble House was fabulous. |
