Help with a special Arabian present
 

Mrs Walker and I are coming up to a 'special' anniversary. So I would like to organise a special trip for her. I wonder if any Arabian experts here would be able to help?

One of her dreams has always been to go riding into the desert, preferably on a white stallion of course (!) and then to camp overnight to enjoy the sunrise. She is quite an accomplished rider so really would want a decent horse rather than the 'old nags' often provided by stables and schools. If I were just to search on the Internet for a provider of such an experience I suspect I would end up with the latter.

Does anyone know, or know somebody who would know, a good provider of this sort of experience? I am thinking of the UAE as a destination, but that is really only because I know it and I am open to other suggestions.

You could try contacting the Mushrif Equestrian Club in Dubai. We did a fairly standard desert ride (just two of us) and the horses were anything but old nags. I'm sure that you could negotiate a more bespoke package.

A&K could set that up for a couple day excursion. I just got back from a trip with them. They did a great job.

Al Maha Desert Resort near Dubai will arrange this. I enquired about it for my wife during a previous stay but was informed that she needed to be an experienced rider (rather than the occasional plodder she is). I'm no equestrian so far from qualified to comment but saw a couple of horses while we were there and they didn't look like your average dobbins.
