Dubai transit
hi all
I will be flying from Rome to Tokyo next month with Emirates through Dubai.
I have heard from unreliable sources that during the layover in Dubai it is necessary to get out of the flight area and go through the security checks again.
I find it a bit strange, and I have enough time anyway (around 3 hours) but I just wanted to know what to expect once I'll be there. Also because moar security = less lounge
thanks!

Yes, you will have to go through security again. Depending on your fare class, you'll be bused to main terminal also. Three hours is more than enough time. You should get at least 90mins in the lounge.

Like many airports, Dubai airport separates departing and arriving passengers. You need to pass through security after arriving to get into the departure lounge.

It sounds like you're assuming you end up in the departure lounge after getting off the plane? But you don't.

the baggage itself instead will go directly to destination right? turns out I have less time than I thought (3 hours) and I'd rather not be in a rush if at all possible.
thanks.

Yes, the Emirates staff in Rome should check your bags through to Tokyo without an issue.

In my opinion and experience, Dubai is one of the best airports in the world to transit through, specially if you're flying EK. Great facilities, shopping, food, lounges, pubs and pretty much everything else you could ask for. Yes, you do get bussed in and out depending on where you're coming in and going out to--but that's a small inconvenience compared to the facilities you will enjoy there.

And there are great amenities at the airport.

Yes, you will have to go thru security, but this is usually quite quick. When you are transiting with EK you go thru T3. This is a shopping mall with an enclosed terminal, so you have to have a second look to find the gates. But the EK lounges are great. Enjoy.
