bahrain
can anyone tell me if there is actually anything to do in bahrain for a few days??

There aren't really any 'must see' attractions in Bahrain IMHO, but there's plenty to see and do, depending on your preferences.
http://wikitravel.org/en/Manama http://wikitravel.org/en/Bahrain http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attract...es-Manama.html It's a compact, friendly and relatively free and relaxed place, by ME standards. |
thanks
is it best to have a car to go round? also presume chances of a daytrip to saudi almost nil? |

The causeway is impressive from an engineering perspective, but the other end (Dammam, Khobar, etc) is pretty unremarkable. You'll find plenty of Saudis to talk to in the bars in Bahrain  |
You can drive down to the mid-way point of the Causeway and have a meal at the tower that looks out over Saudi Arabia.

You need a sponsor over to Saudi. But, only interesting if you have a local who can safely take you through the markets of Khobar, etc. Jason |
thanks-doesnt seem much to do at all!
for getting from the airport to downtown hotels-how much are taxis? also,is it poss to walk about the downtown area or is it fairly spread out?? |
7-12 dinars, depending on how honest your taxi driver is.
